But, Mr. Hill sounds like a man whose company is getting hammered in China.

I believe he blamed an order shortfall last quarter on SARS. Now is it something else?

Here is where LRCX is getting its new orders:

Region New Orders Revenue
--------- ------------ ----------
North America 11% 26%
Europe 16% 25%
Japan 7% 7%
Asia Pacific 66% 42%

biz.yahoo.com
Overall LRCX shipments were down 1 or 2%

compare to NVLS
Shipments of $210.3 million in the third quarter of 2003 represent a decrease of $16.2 million, or 7.2 percent, from $226.5 million reported in the prior quarter.

which didn't break-out shipments by region.

It will be interesting what AMAT says when they announce.

I am, and have been, a believer that Lam did not get the respect it deserved while NVLS probably got too much.....seems as though that may be playing out here. We shall see as I believe KLAC reports on Wed.
