Charles, AMD said they believe they picked up market share in the CC. Check the notes at amdzone:

"We don't know the numbers yet. We believe we took marketshare."

Pretty weak claim, granted.

Makes sense, also, the fact that AMD did NOT say they had record unit shipments, which would have been about a 14% unit increase.

They said something like, "we think we gained share, but we haven't finished the numbers yet." Sounds like Hector might be referring to polling customers and distributors about sell through.

If Intel had a market share gain it must have been quite a bit less than a full percentage point. I think Intel thought their 16% $ gain would make the figure believable, expecting AMD to be closer to the 10% mark.
