My experience in Holland is that employment and job security may be as much to do with the anti-immigrant attitude as anything.

There appears to be some discomfort about the immigrants willingness to work for less money than the locals and many of them also have good skill sets which makes them more of a threat for higher paying jobs in the manufacturing sector.
