I understand the point. Its comes from the might makes right thesis.

No Ted you don't understand the point. It has nothing to do with might makes right. Might can very well be wrong. It has to do with the "might wins more often then weakness" theory.

However, in this case, stronger is an illusion. On paper, Israel is stronger but in reality, it is very vulnerable.

OK this takes the discusssion in to potentially interesting new directions.

On paper, the Amer. colonists should have been slaughtered but in reality there were certain conditions that favored their winning. Its the same with the Palestinians and the Israelis.

Unfortunatly there isn't much to go on in this new direction. The colonists recieved massive foreign military help, they also where defending there homes against a power based across the ocean who wanted to keep the territories but not the the point where the cost was huge in life and treasure. But even if these facts where not true you don't make any argument about how the Palestinians are like the colonists.

There will never be peace so long as Israel tries to hold out giving the Palestinians their state.

Probably not, but if there is to be peace (and not the peace of the grave) the Palestinians have to give ground as well.

The Arabs also had help from Europe and then the USSR.

Very minor help.......we give on average $3 billion per year to Israel.

Not minor help at all. The Arabs had more weapons then Israel. In many cases individual Arab countries had more weapons then Israel, and for years those weapons where not really inferior. Now its a different story but I'm talking about 47, 56, 67 and 73.

The latter is absolute bull.....most of their weaponry was old and the ones they got from Russia were of poor quality.

Israel was fighting with old weapons as well, including Sherman tanks from WWII. Shermans were not even as good as the Russian tanks in WWII. In 47 and 56 things where a lot different then they are today.

Even with all that, the Israelis got clipped by the Arabs in the 1973 war

But in the end they won. They just paid a higher price then they expected to pay.
