" You used to refer to Jessica's Well as if it were a female: "Whatever her name is, it probably isn't Natalie Drest though she may be nattily dressed. Her name may be Jessica. She seems to be a conservative who lives in Midland since she says so and since she posts opinions about things like the Midland Development Corporation etc. on her blog. " #reply-19414115 Now that I've ripped the facade off of the slimy place you're talking about it as if it is what it is, an oil company: "I understand the guy wanted to "split the bandwidth load" when the article got noticed by some of the big bloggers. #reply-19416692 You may not care where you get the propaganda that you read, but it matters to a lot of other people, LOL. Re: "One of the persons responsible for the Jessicaswell blog is simply a conservative person who happens to live in Midland Tx . Whether he is an oil man or rich or even politically active is irrelevant. " No, it is VERY relevant. The natural inference of the article being dredged up from 1946 is that it was the general belief, back at that time, that the occupation of Germany was a "quagmire", just like the occupation of Iraq is nowadays. This is historically untrue. To come to that conclusion, one has to restrict ones research to only a few fringe articles by fringe authors. The article was linked in a manner which suggested that this was the standard, accepted, and normal view of the German occupation at that time. This is a lie. The article was written by a leftwing nut case novelist. It was not written by a military, political or economics expert. He was just another blowhard, just like the left wing and right wing blowhards of our present time. To give the impression that the article was a fair and balanced example of opinion on the Iraq war, the people who released this propaganda had to show it separate from the Republican Party and George Bush in particular. It had to be seen as just another American, who happened to be looking through "her" old issues of Life Magazine when she came upon an article that was of contemporary interest. The truth is that the US has a history of publishing unpopular and unrealistic articles all through its history. To dredge them up, all you have to do is to send an employee over to the library and have them read articles from the microfiche for old magazines. This is presumably what Heck Exploration did. And you yourself admitted that it was in the mind of Heck Exploration to generate a lot of internet activity when they put the article up there: Brumar89, October 20, 2003 I understand the guy wanted to "split the bandwidth load" when the article got noticed by some of the big bloggers. #reply-19416692 In other words, Heck Exploration put the article up with the intention that it be widely disseminated as "information". And since that information is inaccurate, as far as giving an indication of how the Iraq occupation is going as compared to the German occupation, the information can only be accurately described as propaganda. Re: "One of the persons responsible for the Jessicaswell blog is simply a conservative person who happens to live in Midland Tx. " No, Douglas Heck is sufficiently tightly connected to the Republican party that he received ambassadorships back in the 70s. In addition to living in the same small town as George Bush (the city of Midland only had 70,525 people in it as late as 1980), they were owners of similar businesses. It's utterly impossible that they were not close friends. In addition, Heck Exploration is tied to the Republican party. In addition to his own ambassadorships, his daughter Linden, was executive director of the Nevada Republican Party, and Political Drector for the Republican National Committee:... The TCH family was shocked and deeply saddened to learn that board chair Linden Heck Howell died of a pulmonary embolism on October 23, while vacationing with her husband aboard their boat in Florida. Howell had served as a gubernatorial appointee to the TCH board since 1997 and was poised to serve a third term on the board, and second year as TCH Chair. Howell served as Executive Director of the Nevada Republican Party, as the first woman to hold the position of Political Director for the Republican National Committee, as Majority Counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, as Legislative Director for Senator John Tower, and as Assistant to the Director of the Department of Labor Office of Federal Contract Compliance. She also served as Executive Director of the Center for Office Technology, and as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Environmental Research Information, Inc., an environmental research firm in New York. She and her husband, J. William Howell, formed Howell Associates and moved to Hanoi to work with IBM and other corporate clients after the U.S. resumed trade relations with Vietnam. The couple returned to Portland, Texas, in 1995, and she became vice president and general counsel for Heck Exploration Company, Inc. of Midland . She developed a love for sailing and became an expert navigator. ... public-humanities.org So there you go. A direct connection between the source of your propaganda and the Republican party. Is that good enough, or do you want me to continue digging up links? -- Carl P.S.
