Statistics on crime are interesting. It seems that we are able to accept with little comment that women commit less crime than men but are unable to come to grips with even the thought that black men may commit crimes disproportionately to their numbers.

It would not surprise me if women committed less crimes than men, especially in certain categories. Women might get more parking tickets though. Women are less aggressive then men, in general.

I think if you look at women alone, there will be more incarceration of black women then white on a percentage basis. Same for the men.

Black men tend to get involved in inner city crime. They are often targeted by the police force, and often the crimes are of a violent nature. Hence they end up in jail more often.

By contrast, white men usually engage in a different set of crimes. White collar crime is committed mostly by...whites. These crimes are more non-violent in nature, but are often just as devastating to their victims. Take Kenneth Lay for example. He alone has stolen more money than all the black thieves in Harlem. But who goes to jail? Who stays in jail? Who gets to keep his mansion? When was the last time a black thief had a mansion?

It all comes back to who has opportunity, and who does not. And ultimately which crimes are targeted by the police. And which crimes get what sentence.
