This is not the right thread so I'll only comment the once. Uranium prices are turning around too. It depends on your views for nuclear energy. Mine is that I like Nuclear energy, it's clean , does not pollute atmosphere with excess CO2 etc. Companies to check out are Cameco CCO on TSX CCJ on NYSE, and Denison Energy DEN on TSX. I own both FWIW.

Is Zinc really starting a long term move?

If so, how to explain part of this last week PR from Noranda:

NORANDA TO CONTINUE OPERATIONS AT BELL-ALLARD MINE IN MATAGAMI UNTIL THE FOURTH QUARTER OF 2004; PERSEVERANCE MINING PROJECT AWAITING IMPROVED MARKET CONDITIONS

As planned, ore reserves at the Bell-Allard zinc mine in Matagami, Que., will be depleted in 2004 and, as a result, the company will cease operations during the fourth quarter of next year. Noranda has not yet decided to develop its Perseverance zinc deposit, near Matagami, due to weak market conditions and depressed zinc prices. Zinc prices, currently between 36 U.S. cents to 40 U.S. cents per pound, render the project unprofitable at this period in time. Noranda will continue to monitor market conditions to determine the timeline of the Perseverance startup.

Looks to me that NRD does not believe in a real long term price increase for Zn.

The Perseverance deposit needs a few more years to be developped and put into production.

So, are they making a mistake?
