The debt question makes sense only to Ross Perot/Mad Cow McCain ignoramuses who wind up getting called "Patsy" as a result of their stupidity.

Reparations led to WWII, and loans aren't much better.

The Realpolitik is that Bush is going to put America's boot on the necks of the slimy French, and dictate the terms of their re-negotiation of the loans they made to Saddam. Putin will then follow those terms as well.

(I would repudiate the entire thing and tell both countries to go to Hell, but that's not taking into consideration TOMORROW, only YESTERDAY. The German reparations in the 20's were erroneous in the same manner.)

So Bush will get the Iraq aid for nothing more than a promise that future requests will result in a vetting of the debt concept.

The Senate doesn't have the balls to send a bill he would veto-so they won't.

Like it or not-there it is...
