Perhaps Golden Star? If Iamgold is looking at companies in their current area of focus of W. Africa then Golden Star would be my guess based on the size of acquisition that Iamgold referred to. Purely guessing. Or Resolute Mining from Australia, but if I was making a bet I would say GSC.
They just announced today that their 2003 production would be 160k @ $175 cash costs, and from a previous press release these numbers will be "climbing to an estimated 350,000 ounces at an average cash operating cost of below $200 per ounce in 2005 when Wassa is expected to be at full production and when the expansion at Bogoso/Prestea is expected to be complete." That would seem to fit the profile for what Iamgold is looking for.
