Ahhhhhhhhh..... MOST interesting you think this! As a matter of fact, it is most surprising to me. I believe (and will have to check) that the Catholic Church has a large membership in the US...larger than any Protestant or any other group....Folks like Teddy Kennedy certainly aren't Republican. (Thank Goodness!) And there certainly are many, many of his faith that are not Republicans.

When time, I'll see if there are any recent numbers....would be interested if you find any as well.

Large numbers of immigrants are Catholic. And certainly the Democrats want these folks to vote for them. And from the recent CA election, many of them do.

You do know that under "religion" the Catholic Church is counted in the "Christian" group, don't you. Surprised me too.

And I don't think it's partisan on the part of the media except to the extent that the Republican Party is the political arm of US Christianity.
