"A staunch Roman Catholic, he affirmed his faith in the One God who created the universe." He was a great author. I suspect that his mythical gullibility speaks to that talent. Imagination is a great gift if you wish to invent Middle Earth. I have read his books many times with great delight.

How could anyone deny the possibility of owls turning into pumpkins which become people if the salmon screw at midnight? It is a hard thing to deny...exceedingly hard.
