Oddly enough, I scored as a centrist, albeit in the upper right corner of the box.

The inability to educate the public on the value of their economic and social freedoms is what will keep the Conservative Party out of office until the public tires of the Liberals.

That 'inability to educate' stems from an overwhelming disparity of resources. The Liberals have had two generations to ingrain the notion that they'll fix all your problems as long as you vote for them. For many, the price for selling their economic and social freedoms seemed quite acceptable. Some slaves were contented with their lot, after all.

Coyne's most important point, IMHO, is #3 -- how to make it saleable. Is the mainstream urban Canadian a Toronto Star subscriber? If so, then what the Conservatives stand for is a non-starter, whatever name/leader they choose to campaign under. If, OTOH, it's merely a case of stripping away years of highly skilled slander, bad press (and yes more than the odd bit of incompetence)so that people will take a fresh, unbiased look, then there's a chance.
