The Republicans need to avoid Bobdoleism, and be willing to point out that the Democrat domestic enemy is the problem. They are anti-American, anti-humanity, racist, and-since 91101-suicidal. Dodging those realities in the campaign is the only way the Republicans could prevent their own winning of a landslide...

The anti-Dean forces in the Democratic party make only one argument: It is universally accepted that Dean would not just lose, but lose in a way that will threaten the future existence of the party. The anti-Dean forces are stopped cold, however, by the simple question, "Then, do you have anyone who could win?"

The Clintons have exacerbated this dilemma of the Democratic survivalists by pushing forward the worst possible alternative: The fuzzy-minded amateur, Weasel Wesley Clark. They have emphasized the myth, lived by left wing Democrats, that the public is stupid, and will be fooled by a uniform.

The problem that dooms the party is not that they appear anti-military, it is that they are proven anti-Americans. In the post-91101 political reality, that shortcoming is for more transparent, and far more politically fatal...
