The Rumsfeld memo leak was done for a purpose. Rummie has a department-wide rule not to commit embarassing things to paper or email. The purpose was to construct a CYA strategy for Rummie, much as Tenent did prior to 911 with his messages about bin Laden.

If things get any worse look for more such CYA "leaked" memos from everyone in the WH

Gary Reynolds is whistling Dixie, tho' "As with the Plame affair, the reporter should be subpoenaed, and the leaker should be canned, or jailed. This sort of thing shouldn't be leaking." Won't happen, not with anyone important.

<<<< Glenn Reynolds at "InstaPundit" thinks the Rummy leak should not have happened. I agree.>>>>

IMO the "leak" was not a leak. The memo was intended to leak. If Rumsfeld had not wanted the contents of his memo to "leak", he would not have written it.

Draw your own conclusions about the reasoning and the purpose.
