Phil > Pretty graphic illustration about what we have been talking about.

Indeed so. Excellent chart. And it must be very frightening --- to some.

> Mahathir's quotes: This guy is a thorn in some people's pants. He speaks his mind, but that of course is not to be allowed especially if it is at variance with what is acceptable.

Actually, I agree with most of what he says, I suppose it's because he has a big mouth, like I have. He certainly knows how to stand on people's toes --- and he is not selective!

Hovever, I do not like him. He is an unmitigated bastard, and that is not because of what he says but what he does.

>>>Malaysian police last week detained another opposition leader under the country's draconian Internal Security Act (ISA), bringing to nine the number of oppositionists now being held. Lokman Noor Adam, a Keadilan (National Justice Party) youth leader, was arrested just after midnight on April 24 after attending a rally in Shan Alam city, just outside the capital Kuala Lumpur.

His arrest follows the detention of seven opposition leaders on April 10, just prior to an opposition rally on April 14 to mark the second anniversary of former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim's conviction on trumped-up corruption charges***. Six of the seven arrested were members of Keadilan, which was formed by Anwar's wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and were involved in organising the rally.<<<

*** trumped-up corruption charges, my hat. He framed the man and then sentenced him to life imprisonment for doing sodomy on a minor and it was completely untrue.

Phil, here's a piece which agrees with your opinion.

>>>Hart said none of the structural weakness of the US economy – a budget deficit of $378 billion and a borrowing requirement of $560 billion – had disappeared. “If anything, it’s gotten worse. They’re projecting a deficit of $600 billion, or 6 percent of GDP, next year,” he said. Financing the deficit, he said, would also become trickier, given that foreigners had been less enthusiastic buyers of bonds.

The upshot is a bullish outlook for gold, said Hart, despite the fact that Snow’s forecast has spawned a flood of comments from analysts and commentators, suggesting an uncertain future for gold.<<<

PS. I love those comments by the goldbugs at the end of the story. And God help anyone who disagrees with them --- they will tear him limb from limb!
