Perhaps a smaller more detailed brush would help us understand where you're coming from.

There are three commandments that address illegal acts--murder, theft, and perjury. The rest of the TC is none of the government's business. It is the business of God, religious institutions, individuals, and those close to the individuals. Elected officials are out of line when they act to make taking God's name in vain or coveting someone else's wife illegal. Or officially treating adulterers or atheists or Wiccans or whatever any different from faithful spouses and Christians. Those are religious laws, not laws of the state. Is that clear enough?
