Well, actually, those posts I hit probably were from a bad time. rachelsmith/lawdog/brutusdog/bigsablepoint/Don Juan de Marco was there then. The thread improved after his termination (that's what you get for having 6 separate accounts).

And that period just following the election was brutal. Like the run up to the Iraq war.

Threads are born, flourish, and die. They have a life cycle. Most die young; a few hundred posts maybe. Some die with a few dozens. Not many make a thousand and fewer 10,000. After initial birth pangs, new threads often have a glorious honeymoon period. Then trouble sets in, people leave, and they die.

This, being a moderated thread, can be protected from the worst of the infighting. At the same time, that protection can deprive it of interest. Nothing attracts attention like a train wreck. But, even protected from being torn apart, the thread at some point is likely to die of old age and lack of interest.

All except GWB. :-)
