It does not matter what you think or I think. But a Senator is and elected official or the US government. And a Senator has an obligation to speak to only what he knows when accusing any American of anything. And any American who believes in American values does not post others are lying based upon a feeling or what may be a supposed intent.

To me all the signs I read is that all really believed what was thought to be true. And to my sensibilities the risks of no action were not acceptable. And all subsequent information shows 1441 was breached and that was a legitimate reason to resume hostilities against Saddam.

So if you say 1441 had no meaning anyway then on that one could argue the war was wrong but still no lie has occured.

To me a lie means many reasons had to be false and misrepresented on purpose. A lie is not one of many were wrong because information did not provide a clear indication one way or the other and turned out to be wrong. And even a bias that would lead to a mis-interpretation is not lying. It's being a normal human.

but they also knew that the vote on the war would happen before it became public knowledge that it was false.

Don't forget that the midterm congressional elections would also come up before most people knew that it was all a sham. The neocons and Rove the politico had reasons to collude in the ruse.
