Um. Conventional reality seems to indicate that W got the DoJ involved because the CIA requested it. Perhaps alternative reality theories would be better addressed elsewhere. Hersh's piece seemed pretty straightforward and consistent with the neocons' long-running dumping on the CIA for not providing the correct version of the "truth" to feed the propaganda campaign of the moment. I get some minor comfort, though, from knowing that in the "us versus them" dichotomy the neocons have cornered W with, the members of the "them" ilk do have some representation in the administration. CIA, the State Department, "liberals" , most of the rest of the world, it is really beginning to look like quite a vast conspiracy out there.
