RE:"If we don't pull out now, it will end up like another Vietnam, maybe worse"

Perhaps you would like to see us pull out, tighten our borders, become more isolationist and stop fighting other peoples wars for them?

If we don't pull out now, it will end up like another Vietnam, maybe worse.

When I hear someone draw some comparison between Iraq and Vietnam, I immediately conclude that person knows nothing about what happened either place. There is no similarity, whatsoever.

In Vietnam, the United States was under the leadership of weak liberals who didn't have the stomach for fighting and winning a war. In Iraq, Bush has shown himself to have the leadership and courage to go, do the job, and clear out when the job is done.

The differences are striking; the similarities are non-existent.

JF, let me rephrase. If we pull out now, Iraq will end up like another Somalia, only about twenty times worse and God knows how many times more expensive. Remember how encouraged the terrorists were when we high-tailed it out of Mogadishu?

I do agree that the U.N. should get more involved, even if America agrees to relinquish control. If we need to swallow our pride, let's do it without handing the terrorists another victory.
