Hello Condor, My read is that the mission is simply the beginning of a great commercial venture, and like all great commercial ventures, protection is also a must.

Today's China has no great appetite for non-commercial ventures due to its 300-year pent-up demand.

I think, as far as those who believe space exploration is not helping to solve more down to earth problems, they are wrong.

China made the mistake once regarding exploration policy, and so there is less of a domestic political blockage this time around. Perhaps we will see in our life times, ships 1.5 x the football field oceansonline.com amongst the stars, at 1/10 the purchasing parity unadjusted cost :0)
