And even though gold is up only 5%, the gold stocks compare nicely with base metals stocks.

It could be argued that the HUI is over valued vs POG and there are the examples like CNI,FM, and JNI (Canadian) (like SWG and NSU in gold stocks) of base metals stocks rocketing.
Base metals certainly are a great diversification but gold bugs as of this date have not been completely left out in the cold.

The run over the last 12 months is actually about the same.
