The tax cuts were a major factor in the huge budget deficits of Reagan and Bush 1. Democrats did NOT control both houses of Congress at the time the tax cuts were passed. Don't try to re-write history.

The national debt increased more than 2.5 times under Reagan. Each year of Reagan, Congress appropriated less money than Reagan asked for. The Reagan tax cuts coupled with huge increases in defense spending resulted in the largest budget deficits since WW2.
