Sounds like Turkey's democracy was not imposed externally, but through a process that evolved internally. The general had the power, but he was a Turkish General, right?

What I'm talking about is one country imposing their form of government on another. In this case a democracy. We tried that in Vietnam, and that didn't work.

When you look at the history of the middle east there have been conquerings and impositions all through history, but none of them have ever survived. Course democracy is still in it's infancy, an experiment in itself.
