There are a lot of ruffled feathers out there, ruffled for different reasons, most of them off target, IMO. It's a shame because that diversion obscures the real problem, sez she with unerring radar <g>, and it allows his defenders to divert attention from their double standards and onto the knee-jerk criticisms of the "opposition."

The problem is not that it ruffles the feathers of our enemies, but the effect that it has on people who are already suspicious of us, but have not yet made the move into overtly opposing us.

In 2002, polls in Indonesia showed an approval rating of about 80% for the US. It's down to something in the 20s now. This sort of thing doesn't just piss off radicals, it pushes neutrals away from us and into the camp of the enemy.

Is that not cause for concern?
