>>we are relatively healthy and then had this shocker...so it proves we can still have a slump and be healthy doing so.<<

That says it all. No, I have nothing further to say about the Hokies other than waiting to see if this one loss was an aberration or the start of of a slump. I am not as knowledgeable about them as you. Win or lose, how they play against Miami next Saturday will say a lot. That might make it an interesting game. After all, there are some other good teams who have already lost a game this season too.

Gregor, you ask >>any thoughts on the infamous mid season slump<< and with the benefit of hindsight, MSNBC answers by picking Va Tech for their "Best, worst and most amazing of ’03 season" list:

>>>>>>>>>>
Worst Collapse: Virginia Tech (8-4), the would-be national championship contender. The Hokies ambushed Miami, opening the door for some November frenzy in the BCS. But the Hokies were never really a factor, losing four of their last six games.

As I read the list, I was thinking Va Tech had escaped without mention, but I guess someone decided Auburn would be in a different category:

>>>>>>>>>>>
Worst Administrative Decision: Auburn president William Walker and athletic director David Housel held a clandestine interview with Louisville coach Bobby Petrino. One problem: Auburn never asked for permission to speak with Petrino. Bigger problem: Auburn already had a coach, Tommy Tuberville, who was preparing to play arch-rival Alabama. The Tigers beat Alabama, 28-23. But when news broke about the secret interview, Tuberville was hung out to dry and Auburn administrators scrambled for a positive spin. Not this time. Auburn couldn't have looked worse. Tuberville, whose team finished 7-5 after being picked as preseason No. 1 by several publications, announced he was staying at Auburn. Where does it all go from here? That's anyone's guess.

Peronsally, I thought Auburn had it for the early flameout and Va Tech for the mid-season meltdown.

Hey, wait 'til next year. That Kevin Jones will be great....in the NFL. Maybe Marcus will live up to some of the hype and that giant diamond ear stud he was sporting earlier in the year on the sidelines.
