Gaza Strip: Three Israeli soldiers shot dead in Palestinian attack on military camp
24-10-2003, 09:00
Three Israeli soldiers - two women and a man - were killed and two others were wounded in an attack by at least one Palestinian who early Friday infiltrated a military camp near the heavily guarded Gaza Strip settlement of Netzarim.

The head of the Israeli militay southern command, Maj. Gen. Dan Harel said one of the Palestinians entered the camp and began shooting at its barracks, while the second remained outside the perimeter fence and fired shots from there.

"Three Israelis were killed in a terrorist attack on Netzarim," a security source said earlier. "A terrorist was killed after a pursuit on the outskirts of the community."

He said troops were searching the area for a possible accomplice.

Al Manar television, run by Lebanon's Hizbullah, said a caller to its Gaza office claimed joint responsibility on behalf of Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Hamas identified the "martyr" as Samir Hamed Muhammed Fuda, 22, a resident of Jebalya refugee camp.
