Critics of the administration consistently fail to realistically assess what Iraq would be like, and what it would have continued to become had we not intervened.

Iraq has the best chance it could have to survive the Ba'athist regime without descending into civil war, and quite possibly destabilize the whole region. It looks like Saddam was in a good position to secure the succession to one of his sons, so the Iraqis were looking forward to another generation of brutality once Saddam died.
