Hi BubbaFred, <<you'll like this newly proposed alternative currency. What's you take?

Co-creator of the euro offers 'terra', currency backed by about a dozen commodities, such as oil, grains and metals>>

Yes, I do like it, and the best part is that just about anyone of substance can work to introduce such a currency, including many countries, and a lot of investment houses, insurance companies and banks, and so, perhaps it will happen, because it can happen.

Should it happen, then TeoTwawKi is here.

But, even with the introduction of such a currency, I would still like physical gold and platinum, just in case :0)

Speaking of platinum, I believe a buy opportunity may soon be at hand to add to my Impala Platinum hoard, because thebulliondesk.com

“Impala workers to march against wage offer”

… and

“Platinum jewellery emerges as new favourite among young Indians”

BF,

Re: Terra --

I couldn't get a sense from the article about who would be the issuer of this currency. Any ideas? Of course, this is a pie-in-the-sky proposal that re-floats every few years. I've seen this one before. What always stops it dead in its tracks is the recalcitrance of nation states to give up seigniorage. The most notable exception to this rule being the Euro.
