I have about 20 conflicting contradicting thoughts on this story. For one there's the story of my wife's grandmother.

She was 79 when she took a fall and cracked her skull on the concrete floor. She was awake and talking on the way to the hospital but slipped into a comma in the hospital. After 2 weeks the neurologists told the family they should let her go, if she survived she would be a vegetable. They put her in hospice and removed the feeding tubes. After a couple of days she just woke up. Lived another 8 happy years till she passed away this summer. The family was overjoyed about having her back but felt terrible about giving up on her.

Thirteen years is a little different matter though.
