If you aren't a convicted felon, the seller wasn't a convicted felon, and the barrel is of legal length, and no interstate transporation occurred in the transaction then whats the problem? Of course none of the people that are prohibited from owning guns, ie felons, mentally ill, drug addicts, alcholics are required to have a FOID...because their 5th Amendments protect them.

It is perfectly legal here to sell a gun from private citizen to private citizen. There is no gun owners ID that I have ever heard of. Once bought a .380 at a pawn shop and it turned out it was stolen from the Seattle area. I was sure glad I kept my original bill of sale. You can also "carry" non-concealed walking down the street. Sure aint NY state where I grew up!
