October 29 will probably be a critical day with NBR PTEN KEG reporting. Since most all of the activity has been focused on land drilling and NBR & PTEN have a recent history of positive upside earnings releases....

But the performers will likely move up slightly while the underperformers get whacked until we get a good week or two of high HDD to measure demand.

If NG prices are going to get whacked by a major sentiment change, lets hope it is now so demand can be tested at lower prices.

Today's RIG count action is a disappointment.

what news might it be? other than the earnings news coming out in the patch which appears to be having little impact, the "news" could be the weather and or the energy bill. i posted a blurb several days ago here on revenue sharing with states that allow drilling on land and water. i have been listening to these senators and congressmen who are dribbling out some of the info on the energy bill, and it does sound like they are including such incentives for states that allow increased drilling in areas where it has been a problem for the feds in the past. the news is that it would be a change from today's "way." the states might have a different take given a lot of the money would come to them rather than all going to the federal govt. does anyone here have more info on the contents of the energy bill. right now it sounds like iowa is holding the bill up for ethanol boondoggles.
