or work to get rid of the conditions that cause terrorism.

What, in hell, do you think Bush has done??? This is precisely what the Iraq war was about.

Did you read the part that war is not the solution? Its not even part of the solution.

That means working actively to rid the third world of poverty, illiteracy and regimes that would thwart this effort.

Bizarre remark from someone who didn't want to eliminate Saddam. Just downright strange. Unless you think "literacy" is "Saddam Worship". Today, six months later, Iraqi kids are for the first time not opening their days with a pledge to Saddam.

I firmly believe that people appreciate most what they earn on their own. That belief is confirmed by the current reaction of the Iraqis to us. Forget the handpicked Iraqis that FOX parades on its news shows and has them tell us that we are loved. The majority of the Iraqis see as colonists not unlike the Brits and want us out.

Hear that, please..........they want us OUT! They were colonized by the Brits for years and the current scenario feels like deja vu. You can tell yourself that we are doing great things for the Iraqis but they don't see it that way. They want us gone.

In case, you missed it.......the message in the above paragraph is that they want us gone.

Not in a violent way like we did with Iraq but in non violent ways of which there are plenty.

Why don't you just tell the thread how YOU would have "nonviolently" gotten rid of Saddam...

You make successes of countries that are friendly to the US.......like Jordan or even Lebanon. Like Qatar and Kuwait. Like Turkey and Morocco. Forget the Libyas and the Algerias and the Irans. The better our successes, the more the rest will want to follow. You plant the seeds and the rest will follow. It won't be easy but it won't be the mess that Iraq is.

And you either force Israel to resolve its differences with the Palestinians or step out of the picture completely. Israel is an achilles heel that does little for us.
