Dean is not going to get moderates behind him, ever.
Maybe some who are loyal Democrats if Dean were nominated, but no more. And those are the swing-voters who decide the national elections.

When you take away 100% of tax cuts, say "Hamas are soldiers" and say you were against any form of military action versus Saddam Hueesin "from the beginning" (was he really?) you play right into the Bushie hands.

You can see by the military vote poll that Dean performs in single digits while Clark beats Bush and Kerry is also very strong. This is the year for a military hero president. Otherwise, we lose. Those military voters and their families and sympathizers may be Bush's only margin of victory.
