But wait, there's MOORE!!!
MOOREWATCH is dedicated to unearthing the truth behind the doublespeak and falsehood that spews from the mouth (and keyboard) of Michael Moore on a regular basis. Moore is a disingenuous danger to this country, and his assumptions and assertions should not go unchallenged. The collective expertise and research abilities of the entire Internet are more than enough to debunk most of the nonsense Moore regularly puts forth as fact, and we at MOOREWATCH hope to be the clearinghouse for this information.
Saturday, November 1, 2003 Patriotism Author: Lee Since 9/11 we've been hearing so much prattling from the left about largely non-existent questioning of their patriotism coming from the Bush administration. Janeane Garofalo declared that "the right has been able to redefine patriotism." Tim Robbins wrote, "To suggest that my criticism of the President put the troops in danger is absurd . . . You invoke patriotism and use words like freedom in an attempt to intimidate and bully." Dixie Chick Natalie Maines said, "I will not let somebody tell me I'm unpatriotic." And Michael Moore, in his usual manner of unsubstantiated hysteria, writes, "When Bush labels his actions as the model of patriotism, he then classifies all dissent as un-American. While this may be comforting to him, it is actually an insult to patriotism."
Now, I defy anyone to find any instance of Bush declaring people who disagree with him un-American. I've asked this question numerous times before, and thus far I haven't been given a single instance. Sure, there have been numerous instances from the conservative punditry, but that's what punditry is all about. The important distinction is that there has been no government campaign to brand dissenters as being unpatriotic or un-American. What these people fail to realize is that the totality of their positions is what causes many to think of them in this manner, not simply because they oppose Bush. It's their blame-America-first attitude, their knee-jerk reaction to find fault with America at every possible opportunity, that gives them this mantle. But, and I stress this again, this has not been part of a government campaign to discredit these people, which is what they claim.
Why do I bring this up? National Review editor Rich Lowry's new book on Bill Clinton, Legacy, contains this tantalizing quote. Bill Clinton, speaking at Michigan State University shortly after the Oklahoma City bombing, said:
There is nothing patriotic about hating your country, or pretending that you can love your country but despise your government.
Bill Clinton, hero to the American left, actually said this, obviously as a dig at conservatives. Now, this is the president of the United States directly stating that a segment of the American people is unpatriotic because of their views. Ironically, this is likely how many on the left would define themselves: "I'm a patriot because I love America, I just hate what the government has become under George W. Bush." So, if you hold this position, Bill Clinton doesn't think you can be patriotic. I defy Michael Moore, Janeane Garofalo, or any other member of the left in this country to find a comparable quote coming from George W. Bush.
Prove to me that the "chill wind" is blowing.
Mo(o)re Hypocrisy Author: JimK Michael Moore Enjoying Corporate High Life
America's most obnoxious corporate critic, Michael Moore, is living high on the hog thanks to the perks two corporations have provided him for the West Coast leg of his book tour.
Moore was flown around California aboard a private jet, reports the San Francisco Chronicle, courtesy of media mega-corporation Time Warner. And while he wasn't enjoying the corporate high life at 30,000 feet, he was tooling around the Golden State in the kind of vehicle anti-corporate environmentalists routinely decry as public enemy No. 1 - an SUV paid for by his publisher's corporation, Warner Books.
Moore's man-of-the-people image was further dented when it was revealed that he gladly accepted the protection of several bodyguards, who helped the left-wing crusader keep the unwashed masses at bay. Asked if his new chairman-of-the-board lifestyle meant he was being hypocritical, Moore told the Los Angeles Times that the only reason he's feeding at the corporate trough is because it's there.
"I would never pay for this," he insisted.
I suspect that's not the only trough Moore has fed at just because it was there.
Oh screw you, that was the easiest "gimme" joke on earth, and you would have taken the shot just like I did. Don't even bag on me for that one. ;)
On to the seriousness of this topic. Let's explore the logical extension of Moore's attitude. He's willing to violate his alleged belief system for two things: ease and comfort. He's taking corporate-sponsored travel because it's easier for him. Just like everyone else in America that doesn't wear hemp underwear would do. He's willing to ride in an SUV burdened by not just him, but bodyguards and a driver. All that gas...all that environmental destruction, just to make Moore more comfortable. Seems a violation of his principles, doesn't it?
He's got bodyguards now. Are they armed? If so...why?
Let's ask a question of Michael Moore:
Mikey...baby...bubelah. What else would you be willing to take "because it's there?" Would you take money off my desk if you wandered by, because it was there? How far does your greed and hypocrisy go, Mr. Moore? What would you take from a defensless old woman? Would you rape someone because they were there? Would you kill a guy if you could get away with it, because the opportunity was there?
Even I don't believe you would do those kinds of things, Michael. But that's the kind of tactic you use against people who differ from you politically. And you should be ashamed of yourself. But then, pathological, egomaniacal liars never are.
Moore fans: Moore spend his life decrying the rich for acting JUST LIKE HIM. He "despises" corporations while working for one of the world's largest. He despises rich, fat white men who use corporate funds for personal leisure.
Why the fuck isn't his rich, white fat ass flying coach and riding in a VW Bug?
I'll tell you why: he's a pure hypocrite in every sense of the word.
How about Moore takes cheaper modes of travel and donates the difference in cost to a homeless shelter, or put some poor family's kid through film school? No...he'll suck the corporate teat as long as it's there. That is, in a nutshell, the dividing line between the Left and the Right, I think. There's no difference, philosophically, between milking a corporation for a few hundred thousand dollars of perks and milking the Federal Government for a few thousand dollars a year in welfare. It's all about getting something for nothing...and Moore's throwing it in your face.
Did he offer to pay for his own travel and maybe lower the cost of the book for each reader?
That would mean less money for him.
No can do...Moore would rather *talk* about what you and I are supposed to do instead of doing something himself. And that's how he's made his millions...by convincing all of you guilty white folk that you're bad people and you should be ashamed of your selves and your history...and all the while he laughs as he gets richer and richer off your blind devotion.
How much is it going to take before you start to see the hypocrisy in Michael Moore? He doesn't believe the lies he sells you...you can tell a lot about a man by how he lives his life. Moore travels with bodyguards, in limos and private planes, has three homes, send his kids to private school...
But he knows about your life, right? When was the last time you think Michael Moore worried about how he was going to pay for prescription medication or an emergency room visit? The man is a corporation. Face the truth. Moore sold you out.
Tool said it best in the classic "Hooker With a Penis:"
All you know about me is what I've sold you, XXXXXXXXXX. I sold out long before you ever heard my name.
Indeed...all you know about Moore is what he's sold you.
