The same way you get a camel through the eye of a needle

The cities back in that time were walled against attack. At night the large gates were closed and were not opened for any reason until morning. But there was a small gate for late arrivals so they didn't have to spend the night outside the walls. The small gate was nick named "the eye of the needle". It was just large enough that if a man took all the baggage off a camel and then could get it to kneel down it could get through the gate on it's knees. It was a big ordeal to get that camel to kneel and shimmy through that gate and many probably refused. So for Jesus to say that was easier than getting a rich man into the kingdom of heaven that was bad news for the rich, but at least it was not impossible!
