We need the strongest and most experiencd candiate to face Bush, someone who can take away his pro-military issue without being anti-war or anti-military himself. This is the post 9-11 age. The old liberal arguments will not work. But we also don't need old faces like Lieberman and Gephardt. That leaves Kerry and Clark. They are the hope of the Dems, moderates and liberals to take back this country. Because they can beat Bush. Which we can see in the polls.

When some who have supported Dean really think about whether they want him running against Bush's military machine, they will think twice. Once Lieberman, Gephardt and Edwards drop out, the choice will be clearer. But that may not happen for 6 months. Until then, Deanies can dream all they like, but those who want to win need to take the smart course.
