It IS a good point, but I'm not sure it's on point. Yes, white men have had affirmative action for eons. But the point that people were raising that, for today's professionals and technicians, whatever their field, there are minorities with lower qualifications as qualifications are measured getting into the system. If they let a minority in with, say, twenty points less than the cutoff for others, the point his correspondents were making is not totally off base. I don't buy it and I think you'd have to be pretty racist to bring it up when you entered a hospital, but that doesn't excuse Pitts from failing to address it by changing the subject.
