We don't know a lot about this case with absolute certainty. I asked what do you think is the most probable explanation? Lots of things could have happened, including the guy completely making the entire story up, but what do you think?

That wasn't the question I posed. You turned it around. What I questioned was whether the people who are supporting Boykin actively such as you would be expending all that energy posting to support the Wiccan. I think not. Would you have taken the initiative to post in support of him?

I believe I did answer your question directly. If a Wiccan supporter were put through the same dishonest reporting and vilification in the mainstream press, and the issue came up for discussion as this one has, I would be motivated to comment. However, to be fair, I'm probably more inclined to comment in defense of a fundamentalist christian speaker, mainly, because I see them attacked so often in the mainstream press, and because I believe our christian roots as a nation have been on balance a positive force rather than a negative one in our culture. I also believe churches, temples and mosques have played a unique role in our country, and the primacy of their doors has strengthened, rather than weakened us as a society.

But to turn that question around a bit. Do you think you would be just as motivated to denigrate the general if his beliefs aligned with Wiccan ones and he had said the same things but with a wiccan spiritual element to them?

Provided of course the little we've seen is somewhat factually correct.
