Naah, that was normal. Nothing normal about that at all. JFK never made his bones breaking an air traffic controllers' union. I was with Reagan on that, but the renaming still seemed too much of an insult. That process was fascinating to watch up close, BTW. I was with the SEC at the time and our offices were next door to the union on North Capitol Street. I used to pop out and watch the action whenever I got a chance. Heady times, those.
