Spending a week or more dying of hunger and thirst wouldn't be fun either. No, that would be ghastly. I have a copy of Final Exit on my bookshelf. And good friends... think of the terror of wanting to fight on and knowing you were being killed. I have much less fear of being killed prematurely. Much less. I've had a great life. People are different in regard to such things. I used to debate with a colleague who wouldn't even sign a donor card because she was so worried that some doctor would hasten her death to get her organs. Which is why individual wishes should be respected by the government.
