Capitalism may or may not help. For example I heard a talk by Vandana Shiva recently where she was describing an area in India where the local people were served by wells to get their water. Then a Coca Cola bottling plant cane in and drilled a well far deeper than any of the local wells. They used millions of gallons of water, and it wasn't long before all of the local wells dried up. To me that is an example of how capitalism could be a worse nightmare for some areas, depending on how it is done, than what they have now.
