I don't trust the cases based solely on Witness Identification of the perpetrators. Thats bogus evidence many times as shown by many many studies. But unfortunately hundreds of years ago in the english system they decided that type of evidence is certinaly rock solid--based once again on somebody's judgement rather than a study with real data behind it.
