Chuck,

AMD's capacity, in terms of units, has gone down dramatically in the last couple of years. Market share is going to suffer big time if 90nm doesn't come up soon. AMD needs a quick 90nm ramp for x86-64 capacity. Timing of a smaller cached-K8 is also crucial.

Good points. What is going to make it tougher to achieve the market share growth is that the units are at or near all time high. If they stay where they are, or even go higher, it makes it so much tougher for AMD to gain market share. But on the other - financial side, things look good near term.

Regarding market share, not all units are created equal. Server market share and high end desktop / workstation share should be priority, notebooks should be the lowest priority. The reason for this is the answer to 64 bit question. It is the market share of the Servers and high end workstations that will determine the fate of AMD64, and therefore AMD Inc.
