panic,
I consider this excellent news, especially due to the way large business deals are done in China.

If you don't have both government connections and a relationship that connects you with the larger distribution channels, it's a tough road to hoe. If you do, it paves the way for a much higher volume relationship.

About a year ago, I saw data that PC penetration was at about 3% in China, growing at approximately another % per year (33% in the Chinese market). That represented about 25% of worldwide PC unit growth based on industry growth forecasts. Hopefully, we will see some significant design wins.

Thanks,
Mike

First DIY Buyer of Athlon 64 in China

tech.sina.com.cn

It's a fun story.
Two men bought an Athlon 64 DIY kit on behalf of an 80 year old DIY enthusiast.
SOLTEK SL-K8AV-R MB.
SOLTEK GEFORCE FX5900.
Cost RMB9C416 == USD1,139.

I hope I could spend that money on an 64 box:^(
