guns give people a false sense of security......makes the world more dangerous, not safer. Dr. John Lott's study proves differently. Guns are used 2 million to 2.5 million times a year for legitimate self defense purposes, where usually simply showing a perpertrator that you are armed is enough to get them to flee but sometimes justifiable homicides are necessary. Weigh the 2 million self defense cases versus the 1000 or so accidental killings, many of which are committed by police themselves. I'll take the current accidents over creating a 2 million increase in the number of victims from criminals. I don't see how enabling 2 million crimes to be committed by creating a huge class of disarmed victims makes the world safer.
