The conflict in the Middle East is first and foremost a conflict over the identity of the Jew or Chosen People. The Moslems are taught by the Quran that they are the Chosen People through Hagar and Ishmael. They trace their identity through genetics or race. The Jews believe that they are The Chosen through Isaac and Rebekah. They trace their identity through genetics and race. The Christians believe that they are the Chosen People through Faith in Christ. The Christian identity is a spiritual identity that traces heritage solely through Jesus Christ and not through race or genetics.
