After all, if a U.N.-led force turns out to be even more ineffective than an American-led force, then what's the point?

We have to be careful here. If we want to give the UN some symbolic task, fine. But it is our war, it is our job to be sure we end up with a democracy in Iraq, and we don't want to be handing over control prematurely.

I have no problem with Kofi having a voice, but when it comes down to it, George Bush needs to be able to make the call. He's the quarterback here...

Ten,

re: P.S. - Yes, I'm being very optimistic here.

Yes, I think you are. But I hope you are right, there is nothing I would like better than seeing this end well, and seeing it end soon. The momentum seems to be on the other side.

One thing I've learned about war in all these years of all these wars, you never really know what's going on until well after the fact.

Unlike Vietnam, I feel we have real victory in our grasp. Let's not fumble the ball at the 10-yard-line.

P.S. - Yes, I'm being very optimistic here.

You are too optimistic.....we are not at the ten yard line. Things will get worse before they get better........if they ever do.
