Iraq is a total mess, and that is not a political statement, it's just a fact. Now that we're stuck there, all but alone, we cannot run away, but man oh man what terrible planning. We still don't even know who's attacking us. We have no idea. Could be Baathists, foreigners, criminals, disgruntled Iraqis, Shiites, or all of the above. How can you fight an enemy you cannot even identify? And despite this rosy report by Bush (95% BS) the truth is that any improvements we make are likely to get sabotaged and looted right away unless they're under 24 hour guard. Iraq is just totally out of control and our money is going down the toilette.

"The more successful we are on the ground, the more these killers will react," Bush said as he sat in the Oval Office with L. Paul Bremer, the U.S. administrator in Iraq. He added: "The more progress we make on the ground, the more free the Iraqis become, the more electricity is available, the more jobs are available, the more kids that are going to school, the more desperate these killers become, because they can't stand the thought of a free society."
