To say that she helped lose the war is to do underestimate the determination of the North Vietnamese...they are far more responsible for us losing.

The war was "lost" when LBJ didn't have what it took to win the war; had LBJ been strong enough to throw everything at them early on, instead of drizzling it in at Westmoreland's request, the outcome may well have been different.

Once Nixon was in office, the war was already lost at home, not because of anything the North Vietnamese did, but because Americans were sick of watching their kids come home in boxes. All Nixon could do was try to get us out.

Hanoi Jane was more than a silly symbol. I wouldn't say she "lost" the war, but her actions were demoralizing to our troops and treasoness, and gave aid and comfort to our enemy. She should have been imprisoned, or perhaps faced a firing squad, on her return to the states. Her subsequent apology doesn't begin to compensate for her actions.

Yes, the NV were committed -- starving people are willing to do anything to eat.

Hanoi Jane was but a silly symbol of American opposition to the war and the very bombing of civilian centers that you say was stopped and lost us the war. To say that she helped lose the war is to do underestimate the determination of the North Vietnamese...they are far more responsible for us losing.

Al, really, I think it was the fault of the illegals. Yes that's it. The illegals caused us to lose the war in Vietnam. Why didn't we realize it sooner. Its all their fault.

Their ridiculous interpretation of why we lost the Vietnam War serves two purposes. You never have to admit you were wrong and you never have to think before entering another war.

And we wonder why parents get into brawls over little league games. Winning is everything in this country, and if you can't win, you blame someone other than the participants.

If only evolution would work its magic! <g>
